Hi Acquanda! It was great to meet you at the seminar today, I love your blog!! I really like what you said about the “medicalization” of lactation, I think this is a big issue in so many areas!! Doctors are always trying to “fix” people, when maybe the issue is just being different and not broken. One example is people with cerebral palsy (or some other mobility impairments as well), I read a paper where someone was talking about how doctors really push people to keep walking, with the assistance of crutches, leg braces, whatever it takes. When they could actually just get in a chair and be much more mobile, with less effort!!
Anyway, I am looking forward to reading more of your ideas!! :)
OK, so I’m a bit behind responding. So sorry about that. Can we say ‘BUSY’??!! Thanks for stopping by. I’d love to know what you thought of breastfeeding presentation on Native American. I was able to talk with the speaker after and was chatting about breastfeeding work/support. She said she’s not a breastfeeding ‘activist’ per se, but someone who is interested in nutrition, so that helped out a lot with understanding some of the info she provided. I definitely enjoyed it, though I was hoping it was longer.
